Post Living – Art vs Furniture

29 Apr

This is such as clever concept from Post Living – an art table and two prints in a menage a trois of art awesomeness.

PostLiving is a UK based company set up around a passion for urban art and simple modern and affordable pieces of furniture and homewares. The founders of PostLiving have backgrounds in graphic, interior and product design. The end game is to work alongside artists creating an atmosphere of co-operation and collaboration.

Currently there are some pretty darn awesome Pete Fowler sets on offer – each featuring a table and two prints of ‘The Owler’ family. Fab value for money at £125.00.

‘The Owlers’ for Post living: I’ve always been interested in furniture and ways of introducing functionality to artwork and vice versa, so this project with Post Living caught my attention.

This series of images are drawn from my most recent work using the ipad to paint with. It’s such an immediate tool to use, like a sketchbook but with full colour at your fingertips. To anyone who is familiar with my work, owls started cropping up as I started to become comfortable using the ipad.

A group of almost half owl-half human characters appeared over a few days painting and they seemed to be alive and could do with a home, it seemed perfect to set them free in people’s living rooms.

Are they a family or related? I’ll leave that up to whoever lives with them but I’ve just called them the Owlers after a group of beloved friends.

Pete Fowler – Professor Owl

27 Mar

First in a series of works of ‘The Owler’ family, created by Pete Fowler on his trusty iPad.

OK so I am not talking about Pete Fowler being an owl professor but his new print of this rather academic, tweed wearing owl. I love this chap and if you share similar thoughts buy him here.

The professor giclee print (high quality archive quality, fade resistant) printed on Hahnemule paper 31cm x 41cm. Signed and numbered by Pete. This image has come from Pete’s recent painting using the ipad.
This print has an initial run of 30 which will be numbered on the print in pencil by Pete.

At last I can share the video which Pete Fowler, Made Visual Studio, and to a lesser extent I (producing the boys did the hard bits) have been making early this year. So proud of Pete & all the guys at Made Visual Studio. Thanks also of course to The Horrors and all their team for being so wonderous to work with!!!

Even better you can download masks and screen savers from the video here. A few examples shown below.

Eating a giant vagina dentata cake like a woman possessed

12 Dec

copyright gtvone

Hmmmm I am really torn.. On one hand I love this behind the scenes action with Nathan Pask shot by GTVONE at the Eat Your Heart Out photo shoot over a year ago. I REALLY LOVE Pete (Fowler) rocking the zombie sailor look in it, and Bompas & Parr in it too of course. But I am also in it a fair bit – eating a giant vagina dentata cake (by Holly & the Icing) like a woman possessed as you do – which I HATE. Anyway it shows off the work of the amazing Nathan Pask so it would be rude not to share – just never ever make me watch it again!!!

Electronic Van Orlax

16 Nov

Incredible collaboration between ‘Monsterist’ Pete Fowler and artist David  Cranmer who creates incredible electronic instruments and mechanical sculptures… Introducing the Electronic Van Orlax.

This splendid creature was originally created by Pete Fowler, who lent me the vinyl sculpture with a view to turning it into an unusual musical instrument. Two musicfromouterspace.com “Weird Sound Generators” seemed an appropriate addition, allowing bleeps, filters and drones to be manipulated by a number of chest-mounted knobs and switches. The original Van Orlax antlers were replaced with machined aluminium ‘electrodes’, inspired by the shape of high voltage ceramic insulators. The new horns are connected to one of the WSG oscillators, allowing you to control the pitch by touching them.
