Igloo acoustics

7 Jan

Such a great topical post here from super sound geek Trevor Cox on the acoustics of an igloo – what you need to know is that snow efficiently absorbs sound and changes the sound of the streets.

In normal life we are used to unconciously hearing sound reflecting off the road and pavement. With large amounts of snow on the floor the ground reflection is removed and you suddenly begin to notice other subtle effects such as the sound echoing off building facades.

Go into high level explanations here – or learn how to build an Igloo below!
