Wow the work of artist Maurizio Cattelan is so macabre – I absolutely adore it. Her portfolio is a dream mix of taxidermy, sculpture and photography.

Netherlands-based multidisciplinary artist, Levi van Veluw, is a master at crafting different types of materials and patterns using his head as the sole canvas. I love how the figures look almost haunting with their expressionless faces and how the patterns and textures accentuate different features of the head. View all of Levi’s work on his portfolio site, levivanveluw.nl!
Ooooooo this is a bit clever…. It’s from artist Horst Klechle who created this incredible paper torso with removable organs for the Science Lab of the International School Nadi, Fiji. The sculpture is composed entirely from 200gsm white card and you can see more on Flickr here (via notcot).
I think this video was made for the sale of a sculpture of the world’s largest snake which cost 25,000 euros – I am also most probably wrong. Questions in my brain:
a) WTF
b) Why does this video feature Frank Butcher
c) 44 millions views – erm…
Laura Ann Jacobs is an artist who specializes in bra and corset sculptures using seashells, porcelain, glass and even animal byproducts such as snakeskin in her work. Unquestionably the stand out piece is the crab bra, all of which are sold out in case you are tempted.
Burn your bra. The phrase doesn’t get much voice anymore, as the advancement of feminism is countered by today’s ever-present porn industry and freaky surgery makeovers. The surreal circus-like atmosphere in which we live, make the bras of Laura Jacobs no less startling. Incorporating everything from crab claws and fish heads to antique glass and mother of pearl, their wall-borne, gravity-defying flight gives voice to the shapes that lie behind, concealed like soft pills of great potency…
We are here, you want to look at us. Breasts are symbols of — and vehicles for — power.. Like the twinned temples of Angkor Wat or any ancient shrine, Jacobs has made temples to befit them, define them and sometimes hold them, in ridicule.
These are STUNNING.
Korean artist Sang Sik Hong works magic with drinking straws. His large-scale sculptures, made up of thousands of straws, focus on human desires, namely: power and sex. He likes the irony in using straws, a weak structure and disposable item by itself, to create the contrasting strength of power and desire.
