We’ve animated computer viruses

23 Oct

avg2

OK it may seem a tad off topic for this blog but sod it as this is a film is one I have just finished making for AVG (producing & directing films is part of my proper job). I really like the way in which it explains how to stay protected online in actually a very engaging way (ahem) – the whole team rocked with special thanks / beer / etc going to Graham the awesome illustrator for turning this around in five days and Ryan for putting up with my bossy ways).

Halloween Safety Video

22 Oct

70′s safety films were scary enough but I genuinely believe this remix of a Halloween infomercial will give me nightmares (via Nerdcore):

And here is the LONG original version of the Halloween safety film which is just so 70′s it is glorious:

Filming Bahamas

16 Sep

Sadly I am working on this so the closest thing I will come to tropical filming is a can of pineapple on Tesco’s. However for those of you who can enter (jealous face) here is the deal:

The search is on for 14 UK filmmakers to travel to The Bahamas to shoot the inspiring and dramatic stories of the different islands, see http://www.14islandsfilmchallenge.co.uk

‘14 Islands, 14 Filmmakers, 14 Days’ is the theme of what will be a very exciting project, the 14 Islands Film Challenge is the search for talented UK filmmakers to travel to the 14 Islands of The Bahamas to shoot the inspiring and dramatic stories of the different islands.

The 14 lucky filmmakers will shoot their films over 14 days, with a local team on each island. Filmmakers will be encouraged to portray the islands in their own way; genre, tone and plot are all open to allow for full filmmaker creativity. When they return to the UK, the 14 films will then be shown at an exclusive red carpet screening, with the eventual winner chosen by a voting panel including a yet to be disclosed A-list Director (follow on Twitter to hear the announcement). From the final 14 just 1 filmmaker will be selected by the judging panel and will walk away with the £14,000 grand prize.

It’s not the first time The Islands of The Bahamas has hosted world class filmmakers – Bond, James Bond, in his various incarnations has chosen the The Bahamas for his backdrop on a number of occasions (Thunderball, The Spy Who Loved Me, Never Say Never Again & Casino Royale), the Beatles came to the Bahamas in Help!, and blockbusters such Pirates of the Caribbean and The Silence of the Lambs have made The Bahamas a popular film location for some of the most iconic films of all time.

The 14 Islands Film Challenge will offer a fantastic platform for UK filmmakers to display their creativity.

Magical designs

10 Aug

antigravityhatjpgweb_0-1

I love these designs so much – Magical Moustache Miracle Stubble Grow is just one of the products created specially for the set of the latest Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

Featured on Creative Review were designs from Nicholas Saunders. They are featured in the Weasley brothers’ magic shop – Weasleys Wizarding Wheezes -  that appears in the film’s Diagon Alley set.

Wild Things Film Stills

16 Jul

I am so excited about the new Wild Things movie – I was ready to pop when I saw the trailer, but am now beyond excited. The music from the trailer (Arcade Fire) makes me cry, although I am unsure why. By the look of these stills it seems the movie will have  similar effect on me – it really is massively emotive.
