Brilliant Design Lecture – ‘The Chaos’ consumed

8 Nov Tate&Lyle

I am going to be talking about this installation at Wednesday’s Brilliant Design Lecture:

Here is The Futureheads V Miss Cakehead ‘The Chaos’ cookie installation for  Cake Britain – the world’s first totally edible art exhibition supported by Tate & Lyle (and an event from The Mad Artists Tea Party). I can’t believe my insane idea ending up looking this good, and importantly that everyone loved it too. Personally I knew I adored this piece as soon as it was done (even if this was about 60 seconds before we opened the doors for the private view on Thursday), and the band gave it their seal of approved too on Sunday.

Importantly all proceeds & donations from Cake Britain are to charity  (including a donation towards Newcastle based St Oswald’s House specifically for this piece), which is a really important factor in this mayhem for me.

The vanilla cookies were from Molly Bakes & Kookie Cookies, the installation elements from the amazing Bruno & Ben (not to mention everyone else who got stuck in to make sure it was ready in time for opening). You all ROCK!

Rough sums: 200 hours to make in all / eaten in about an hour.

Being eaten by guests at the show:

& being gobbled by the band (geeks will notice the sync up of images):

Such a messy bitch

6 Nov NPP_EYHO-299

Here are a few extra pictures from the EYHO photoshoot that did not make the cut – it’s testament to the whole creative team behind the shoot, and in particular photographer Nathan Pask, that the pictures look this good totally untouched. That said how come I have only just realised my eyes appear to be two totally different sizes (WAIL).

Totally with you that this post is more than a little self indulgent but hey it’s not everyday you have a vagina dentate cake (in this case from Holly & the Icing) disintegrating in your hands; and whilst I normally resist posting any pictures of myself onto this blog  these totally untrouble me (as sadly I do not look like this  in day to day life).  Amazing what hours in hair and make up can do uh?!

Edible human centipede

9 Oct

Head here to read more about these marvelous beasts we’ll be selling at Eat Your Heart Out & the PRETOX Potion – top work from Alice Rose Cakes & Cookies:

On a good old internet rumpus rummage I have also found this equally awesome cookies from Flickr user janeminty.

Prototype: Bat Skull cookies

9 Oct

Oooooo excitingly here is the first ever Pete Fowler Bat Skull biscuit from the awesome Alice – yummy! Exclusively for sale through Eat Your Heart Out from the 29th October. OK so clearly we know these are not strictly over 18 but they are fucking awesome, and a great follow up to Captain Fairtrade!

Previously on Cakehead Loves Evil:

So it appears the Miss C V The Futureheads Chaos Cookies II are going to have some competition on the biscuit front at Eat Your Heart Out… How can I begrudge this bad boys though (but I do a tiny bit)…

Evil last supper…

3 Oct

We’ve updated the Eat Your Heart Out & the PRETOX Potion image gallery – I can’t even begin to start explaining how disturbing the noose was for this shot (or how much Kim’s amazing cake hair gave me a headache)… You know the score the behind the scenes video of the shoot here.

All round awesomeness from photographer Nathan Pask.

Tweeting behind the gory scenes

24 Sep

George Morton-Clark - ready to roll

Apologies for lack of posts today it’s been the gory cake madness of the Eat Your Heart Out & PRETOX Potion shoot today – here are some of the images I have been ‘tweeting’ throughout the day. Wait until you see the proper ones – the work of Nathan Pask blew me away today! OMG as for the last supper – though I got *freaked out* seeing a very dear friend with a noose around their next looped over a beam. More of that to come…

Eating your heart out

13 Sep

I am VERY excited about the Eat Your Heart Out photo shoot next week with Nathan Pask (who took the lush images for Cake Britain)! Brilliantly we’re getting LOADS of interest about this project already so I have cobbled together the below for now – I acknowledge it’s shamefully badly designed but it’s only a place holder…

Rock stars who love cookies

2 Sep

Massive thanks to Mary Bowers at The Times for this great piece of #MATP coverage in The Times last week. Great photography from her colleague Mary  too – you really would not know the ‘a’ was a cardboard one I made after the real icing one went AWOL. Mollybakes made the cupcakes in these pictures which, I have been told, were rather tasty indeed; and of course a lesser band would not have lied down on a damp carpet, in a field in Bromely to get this great shot! All round awesomeness.
