I really really don’t like this tribute graffiti (on many different levels) but wanted to post to see what others think. I can’t see any of Amy in it at all really – could it be just a loose hook to everyone talking about this piece of work?

In memory of the goddess of the soul Amy Winehouse , artists and graffiti artists Dem189, Lek, and Seth Swiz conducted a fresco in his own image on a wall Ménilmontant district in Paris. Called “French Kiss” is well recognized in some distinctive illustrations of singer, his passion for music but also his demons as she tried to drive out of his wits. RIP Amy.

It would be wrong to say until yesterday I had not seen INSA’s work. In fact when working on Shoreditch I saw his pieces on an almost daily basis. However, it would be right to say I have not seen pieces of his I like, or which inspired me to find out more. I don’t like his trademark patterns. With the ‘boob grabbing’ graffiti having got me past this mental block however I LOVE what I found on his website >> go check it out.

I love playing around with blood bags (not with blood in don’t worry) at the best of times – and when you throw Santa Claus into the mix, as artist Lee Ki Seung has done, it gets even better! (via Nerdcore)

Pomp de Franc’s cakes in quails eggs

I love the rustic nature of Pomp de Franc (Katie Franklin’s cakes). For example her amazing work at the Experimental Food Society Spectacular at the Truman Brewery…

I painstakingly made cakes inside real quails eggs. Peel away the shell, as you would to a boiled egg, to reveal the egg shaped cake inside. I made them in the following four flavours:

• Dark chocolate and Espresso
• Sour Cherry
• Banana and Dime Bar
• Courgette and Pistachio

Radioactive Fish

Say what you want about Greenhouse but you can’t deny some of their awareness generating stunts are pretty darn clever (via crackajack)

They’ve come up with a really great idea on how to publicize the results of some of their radiation tests of fish from Japanese supermarket shelves. A fake advertisement flier, listing the amounts of cesium instead of prices.

And the message it sends is very clear: Greenpeace could not find any fish that contained radiation exceeding legal safety limits. The legal limit for Japan is 500 becquerels per kilogram. The highest amount of radiation they found in one fish was 47.3 Bq/kg, or less than one tenth the limit.

Make up design from Alex Box is so inspiring & really makes me want to start experimenting a bit more. I have long said edible sprinkles are a valid choice of ‘glitter’ to put on your face, and I guess with an alter ego like Miss Cakehead a spot on choice too.
