For the first time in 18 years, since March 1993, the moon will be full at the same time it is closest to the Earth. And it will be 31,000 miles closer than it usually gets. There is a full moon every month, and the moon gets closer to the Earth every month on its elliptical orbit. But only rarely do the two happen at the same time.

So this is how you totally nail a PR picture story - Longleat put an old ‘toy’ car inside the Rhesus macaque monkeys enclose for them to pull apart. The ‘angle’ being that they wanted these cheeky monkeys to take their frustrations out on a car before visitors to the park start driving through the enclosure again when it reopens. I can’t say how much I love this series of images – talk about being an absolute PR gift! You can even see a video of them in action here. It is totally worth watching – I laughed out loud at the monkey with the blue tshirt like a Pacman ghost and the way the hub cap is just wheeled away! Check out the forward rolls of tshirt stealing victory too…

Changing perception about the female body around the world through art; that’s the idea behind this amazing exhibition currently on in Brighton. British artist Jamie McCartney has created a monumental wall sculpture showing women’s most private parts. The nine metre long polyptych consists of four hundred plaster casts of vulvas, all of them unique, which has been arranged into ten large panels.
The age range of the women is from 18 to 76, including mothers and daughters, identical twins, transgendered men and women, as well as a woman pre- and post natal. Described as ‘the Vagina Monologues of sculpture’, this piece is intended to change the lives of women for good: ‘I realised that many women suffer anxiety about their genitals and I was in a unique position to do something about that’. Half a decade since its humble beginnings, the exhibtion is still a success.

A unique tribute to Muhammad Ali by sculptor Michael Kalish, who has hung 1,300 punching bags recreating the visage of the champion who floated like a butterfly and stung like a bee. I am particularly fond of the last image in which the artist shows he has more than a touch of David Brent about him (via Refinery 29):
