I have a real soft spot for subversive & fucked up crafts so clearly I am all over the work of Quiltsrÿche like a sewing induced rash. Their motto “Made with Hate” (via):

Here is a preview of the Stuart Semple cake (still a cake in progress) for The Mad Artists Tea Party Cake Britain event this week (eeeeeeeeeek):
Stuart very kindly allowed photography of his work as it was being created – for it’s installation into the gallery there are some VERY special unique Jellymongers Bompas & Parr touches to come. I LOVE the fact Brad & Angelina are on the top, and as a unique, edible, Stuart Semple work of art you can see it clearly follows his trademark color palette as shown in his work below. I have a total cake crush on this bad boy!!!!
The exhibition, which is sponsored by Tate & Lyle Sugars in support of its switch to Fairtrade, teams the UK’s most creative bakers with artists for an exhibition at The Future Gallery, 5 Great Newport Street, London, runs from 27th to 29th August.
Some of the UK’s most highly praised artists (& one BRILLIANT band) are swapping canvas for cake and oil paint for icing sugar during the exhibition: Stuart Semple, Alex Turvey, David A Smith, StenSouL, Pete Fowler, George Morton-Clark and The Futureheads. Their work (& lyrics) will be turned into edible art based on the theme “fair” by contemporary food artists including Crumbs and Doilies, Lily Vanilli, The Curious Confectioner, Bompass & Parr and Bea’s Of Bloomsbury.
All proceeds will support the Fairtrade Foundation and two charities: Richard House and We Make Peace. Tate & Lyle started moving its entire cane sugars range to Fairtrade in February 2008, which at the time was the largest ever switch to Fairtrade labelling by any major UK food or drink brand. In the first year alone, the switch created a return of at least £2 million in Fairtrade premiums for cane farmers. Entry to the exhibition is free in exchange for a ‘fair’ donation.

Was not sure if this was SFW or not (more of less everything is safe for my work) so simply assumed that you would have taken the “a-sutra” as a big clue and taken your own call. Anyhow thanks to Rachel from Wonderment for sending this over. I am not sure if it’s a compliment or not she thinks it’s “very me”, but you know what this just might be the thing to get the delicious Sheldon Cooper into bed (bazinga if he was real that is).
