I have a morbid fascination with Eurovision song contest and it’s on tonight. Here are some of my ‘top picks’ of past years video below – including the mighty fine Chiki Chiki and one of the few dances I can ‘do’ from start to finish (there was a party, it was messy).

I still find the decision for the UK to enter Daz Sampson (2006) fat rapping Ian Huntley look-a-like (and worse one who performs with dancers dressed as sexy school children) inexplicable. At least Sooch gave you “something to suck on for landing sir”.  I am also still incredibly bitter about loosing £1000 when Vera Serduchka was robbed in 2007, robbing me of winnings

Super clever concept from Justin Kemp who is doing his part to keep the internet fresh by adding to it. It’s pretty genius, as are many of Kemp’s other projects, such as “Extinguishing a Scented Candle with Febreze” and “Anticipating Toast Pop Up (via UO).

World Cup poster

Designer David Watson of design studio Trebleseven sent in his colourful, typographic World Cup poster (detail shown above) to Creative Review. The front side of the poster (below) lists all the groups, A-H so you can clearly see which countries are in which group. A calendar runs down the right hand side listing chronologically all the matches to be played in the tournament. The artist says:

“I’ve created the poster to support Soccer Aid. The idea is simple: sales of the A1 double sided poster raises money for Soccer Aid – a British charity event which raises money for UNICEF“

An Horse “Postcards” video, from their debut album Rearrange Beds, IS AMAZING. Directors Celeste Potter and David Rusanow mounted a camera on the ceiling and took a picture every five seconds for the five and half hours it took to complete the anatomical man (via street anatomy).
