Levi’s has recruited 18 of London’s most talented craft-workers to feature as icons of the ir new store in Regent Street. I was reminded of this by a MASSIVE advert featuring Ms Lily Vanilli (see anatomical heart cake link bottom right).
They scouted the city of London to find craftsmen and craftswomen across different genres as broad as art, music, performance and catering to truly represent a young and dynamic London.
Lily Vanilli is much more than a baker; she’s a cake sculpturer. Her unique creative flare has seen her evolve from graphic design to a creator of cupcake decadence. One of her greatest talents is the ability to concoct delicious recipes; another is her ability to keep them secret.
She revels in aesthetic paradox and therefore delights in presenting her sugary sweet flavours in macabre and often grotesque shapes.
It all began as a hobby in her Hackney kitchen, but before long her delicious cakes were soon on the lips of London’s fashion elite. She has created a gothic wedding cake for Pearl Lowe, a birthday cake for Victoria Beckham and she counts Heidi Klum as just one of the many avid fans of her cupcakes.
