Thanks Rebecca – I am thinking in the technical dictionary definition sense though… …ie is it possible to make a large cupcake. There must be some perimeter at which point it becomes a cake. OK I am obsessing over this now
cupcake (n)
(Cookery) a small cake baked in a cup-shaped foil or paper case
I would imagine so. So long as it was in one of those little paper cup things, I would consider it a cupcake, even if it was as big as a house. A cake would just be the same thing, only without the paper. If you take the ‘cup’ out of the word ‘cupcake’, you’re left with just ‘cake’, right?
Therefore, that would sort of defeat the purpose of the big top cupcake, since there’s no paper, making it a cake.
Yes. It’s basically a cake shaped like a cupcake. You hide the top under frosting so it looks like a big cupcake.
It seems like it would make more sense to just make a cake, but novelty is the key.
