This is an astonishing good form of VERY large scale performance art – the pictures are strong but when you see the video it really hits home what an amazing feat the Royal de Luxe theatre group pull off.
Two giant marionettes, which had been “walked” from eastern and western Berlin by performers from the French street theater company Royal de Luxe, are reunited at the city’s legendary Brandenburg Gate, October 3, 2009. Royal de Luxe paraded the two marionettes through Berlin to illustrate the Cold War-era division of the city and the peaceful revolution of 1989—not as a political story but as metaphor and fairy tale.
