I started off this post with the idea of posting a nib about octopus ‘wigs’ used to advertise hairdressers (see below). Whilst looking for a few more images to support this t, I came across so many cephalerotic images that they totally morphed this post into something else. That something being…
If you are looking for a new hair style, Joshua Hair salon has a great idea for you: octopus wigs. Simply purchase an octopus and place it on your head. They were clearly in thinking octopus / squid on heads is a great concept as only the final image is the advert for the hair salon. The results of the octopus wigs are unexpectedly fabulous as the beautiful tentacles hang down like hair tendrils. Want longer hair? Buy a bigger octopus. Want shorter hair? Buy a smaller octopus.

The artist Lestaret, who created this BRILLIANT piece, explains the project on his blog.
I’ve been getting my hands dirty! I’ve made a large ampersand from clay which is in the process of air drying. I’m so pleased with it I wanted to share it with you. Eventually, it will be fired and white glazed, which will allow the quality of the clay (krank clay – it’s very gritty) to come through, giving it a sort of toasted appearance.
It stands about 300mm high, and is around 55mm thick but will shrink by about 20% when dried and fired. It weighs quite a bit, but is hollow, having been formed out of slabs around 15mm thick. It is as neat on the inside as it is on the outside too – it looked nice in consruction, so I photographed it then:

In this recent work, artist Tattfoo Tan explores ideas of food and play, replacing plastic checker and chess sets with edible cookies in flavors like cream filled ginger, citrus shortbread, and oatmeal and raisin (recipes are up on his site). All pieces were handmade by Tattfoo using custom-made cookie cutters. Each time a player takes an opponent’s piece, it can be eaten. Yum! And if you just can’t have a cookie without some ice cold milk, you’re in luck. Glasses of the good stuff accompany each side of the silkscreened checkerboard pattern. Food Game has been on in various New York City-area venues over the last month.

Photography really doesn’t get much better than this cheeseburger art. All this poor dog wants to do is eat those lovely, hot cheeseburger sandwiches stacked underneath its feet, yet it is so obedient, standing tall posing for the right shot. Now that is model dedication for you.
I love this fun series of photography by renowned photographer William Hundley, entitled “With Cheeseburgers”.
