My father told us about the Clam Ram when we started building the collection. Marco headed strait for the computer to search for it but rather than writing “Clam Ram” he wrote “Ram Clam”, needless to say a bunch of interesting links showed up, in front of my whole family. That was a real miscommunication moment! However, this is a very innocent and practical object. Invented in Connecticut in the 1960’s, the current owner bought the business around 1980 and has not changed a thing. Hence, what you find is a product where every part originates in the one state and is largely hand produced with packaging and printed matter of a different age. During the close to 30 years he has had the company they have only received 2 complaints, the Ram is so well made that he offers a lifetime warranty. It’s a unique device for a unique person: someone picky, someone who has everything, someone who loves clams or just wants to be perfect.

Kitchen Arts in Boston has carried the clam ram for years. It’s a really awesome tool and the owner there tells me they sell ton’s of them to novices and pros alike. You can get it in their store or on their website http://www.kitchenarts.biz for only $14.95.
